Its been revealed Channel Seven has no room for Anna Coren in its overseas stable despite the Today Tonight star seeking a coveted foreign correspondent post.
Coren will continue contract negotiations on her return from Beijing. The gorgeous presenter already has been exploring her options – she recently completed a screen test for CNN at its Atlanta HQ in July.
But Seven news and current affairs boss Peter Meakin seems prepared to let her go.
“I have left her alone at the Games but we’ll have to talk when she gets back to see what she wants to do,” Meakin told News Corporation.
“She’s been open in telling us she would like to spend time overseas, and that is her right.
“But I don’t’ think it would be with us – she has been talking to CNN and to be honest, overseas positions are limited at Seven.”
“Our bureau positions are filled by Adrian Brown, Mike Amor and Rahni Sadler.”
“It would be good if she stayed, but it’s not compulsory for her to work at Channel Seven.”
Coren was stationed at Seven’s Los Angeles bureau when troubled former presenter Naomi Robson left the show. Coren returned to take up the post.
