The Sydney Swans will need to kill off a 1149-day drought if they are to guarantee a finals berth with a win over Collingwood this Saturday.
The Swans haven’t beaten the Magpies in three years, with the last victory coming by just one point at the SCG midway through 2005.
Collingwood has won the last five meetings between the sides by an average of 25 points.
The Swans are at sixth place on the ladder but are struggling for form – losing five of their past seven games – and are still no certainties for a finals finish.
But Sydney coach Paul Roos insists his team will take some confidence into the clash with the Pies at Telstra Dome.
"We can't go down there, tail between our legs, feeling sorry for ourselves," Roos told News Limited.
"That's the point of the team we've picked this week. Let's go there with some confidence, we are in the mix and it's an exciting time of the year to be playing against Collingwood.
"They get a lot of confidence from beating us. So we've got to come ready to play and then we've got to do things differently.
"If you keep doing the same things you tend to get the same result.
"We've got to be a little less predictable than we have been in the past."
