Police have interviewed Cronulla Sharks player Greg Bird, following an assault in his Sydney unit block.

Detectives are yet to lay any charges over this morning's attack which has left a woman nursing an eye injury.

Bird has reportedly told the Sharks the altercation was between two guests at his home and that he had nothing to do with the incident.

It is believed the assault took place in the early hours of this morning in the Cronulla unit, after a dispute between a man and a woman.

“Police are investigating an alleged altercation at a premises in Cronulla this morning which resulted in a woman sustaining an eye injury,’’ police have said in a statement.

“Enquiries are continuing.’’

The Sharks club has confirmed police are at the five-eighth's home investigating the incident.

Hey... I think before you start flinging mud you might find he had nothing to do with it. It occurred at his home...between two other people. You're the grub!!!

I'll bet Nulla Shark is not even in The Shire, and is most certainly not a Sharks fan. Half wit

As a woman, I am deeply horrified by these events. It worries me more that the NRL have only suspended him. The NRL is concerned about the female marketshare, which is dwindling. Well they should be now. What a foul person. I hope he gets locked up.

what were you thinking birdy? i thought the world of you as a footballer, with such skill and dedication to the game you have achieved so much with so much potential and you go and do something as low as this? we all make mistakes and do some silly things, but i still admire you. Just hope the poor girl makes a speedy recovery.

This isn't Greg Birds fault. This is rugby leagues fault. Give the poor bloke a break. Accidents do happen......

On Greg Bird, doesnt his behaviour stem from the over aggressiveness that seems to be synonymous with the Cronulla team? Over the last weeks the brutality exhibited by Gallen and co is appalling and I cant think of another team in the comp that is over the top such as this team not even the storm. Bird's behaviour seems to me to be just an extension of what Ricky Stuart obviously encourages in his team. Maybe the officials need to do something to stop this.
