Toddler critical after being shot in head by sister

26/08/2008 10:12:00 AM.  | Annika Burgess
A five-year-old girl in Britain has shot her baby brother in the head, when her father accidently left his air gun nearby, when he went to answer the phone.

18-month-old Rashid Rullah is fighting for his life at Birmingham children’s hospital.

The siblings were playing in the backyard of their home on Sunday, where their 29-year-old father had been using the gun for target practice.

When the father turned his back to the pair, the five-year-old got a hold of the gun.

Police have said they are not seeking anyone else in connection to the incident.

Having children is considered a 'right', I have never believed it was. Children are a gift, a priviledged gift , not a right of way because you have reached a certain age, or in some cases, are still a baby yourself. Parenting is the single most important job you will ever undertake in your life, what a shame we dont educate our youth on the importance of this huge responsibility. Turn your back for just 2 seconds, and they can be gone. Leaving a gun near 2 babies is unforgivable.

Couldnt agree more with you Susan. Even HAVING a gun near kids is the hight of stupidity.

So right Phillip, but a little similar to the other post you had, money being more important than being Mummy. We have the "ME" parents now, still childlike in their wants, all about what they want and not about whats best for their children. Daddy wanted a gun to play with around his babies, and left it as he would have left a lego's block. No thought of consequences. Now another precious "gift" is gone.
