Broadcaster Alan Jones has spoken publicly for the first time since surgery for prostate cancer, saying he's well on the road to recovery.
Mr Jones underwent surgery just five weeks ago, and says he's in a little bit of pain, but doing well, considering.
Describing the procedure as "an excavation, not an operation," he says the doctors are confident they have gotten rid of all the cancer.
Mr Jones has told 2GB’s Jason Morrison he's put his life in the doctor’s hands.
“There are other sorts of side effects that you have to deal with, but that’s the choice. That’s the choice between vanity and life – some people choose vanity, well I chose life.”
2GB breakfast broadcaster will be "up and flying the flag" by the 15th of September.
LIVENEWS.com.au is owned by Macquarie Radio which also owns 2GB.
