A New South Wales police officer's been charged with child sex and pornography offences.
The 43-year-old from Penshurst is accused of sexual intercourse with a child aged 14 to 16, accessing child pornography over the Internet and possessing child pornography.
Macquarie Radio's been told the man is a senior constable with 22 years experience in the NSW police force, seconded to the Australian federal police.
He was actually charged nine days ago, after police reportedly raided his home and office, seizing his computer.
The AFP has defended the decision not to make his arrest public, saying it's policy not to notify the media until the day of court - that will be on September 9,
