Organisations offering paternity leave increasing

7/09/2008 6:45:00 AM.  | Olivia Suzanski
The number of organisations offering paid paternity leave has more-than doubled in recent years.

The Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency says 32 per cent of companies were offering leave to fathers in 2005 compared to only 15 per cent in 2001.

There are concerns the shift in parental leave offered to new fathers isn't being reflected in a similar boost in entitlements offered to new mothers.

Is this "paid paternity leave" just being allowed to take your annual leave or is it an extra to any accrued leave. But on the other hand if your union is totally incompetent or corrupt - you can't even utilise your attained leave unless it totally agrees with your company. It may be a good PR exercise to name the companies who do look after their workers.
