Peter Costello has thrown his support behind Brendan Nelson.
While he's told 2GB’s Alan Jones he won't stand for the position today he's refused to completely rule out a tilt in the future.
“Well I’m still in the parliament and I’m representing my constituents,” he said.
“I said that I take my constituency work seriously. I will continue to do it.
“I’ll keep it under review and if my position changes I’ll announce it then.”
