Sydney braces as violent storms approach

22/09/2008 12:02:00 PM.  | Jessica Campanaro
Storms, with violent winds are rolling eastward across the state, headed for Sydney.

The weather bureau has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the western half of the state.

Senior meteorologist Peter Zmijewski says Sydney should prepare for heavy rain and strong winds.

“We may see winds averaging over 60 kilometres per hour later in the afternoon with possible gusts over 90 kph,” he told LIVENEWS.com.au.

“And if thunderstorms eventuate those winds could get even stronger.”

Judging by the radar this so called storm has already hit the coast affecting Wollongong and Kiama. Sydney might get light rain, thats all.

I live in central west NSW and there is nothing to indicate rain in any form. Oh that there was!
