In a jealous rage over an internet lover, a man has allegedly slashed his ex-boss’s throat.
44-year-old Paul Hicks was attacked at his home, after showing interest towards a woman at a backyard barbeque.
Louise Perryman had recently arrived in Australia from the US, to meet up with 47-year-old Liam Gaynor, who she had become engaged to after a lengthy online romance.
Gaynor had introduced his fiancé to Hicks at a bbq, and the pair hit it off.
Gaynor is believed to have later returned to the Collingwood Park home with a 25cm knife, and in a near-fatal attack, slashed Hicks’s throat.
Gaynor was arrested and charged with attempted murder, grievous bodily harm and entering a dwelling with intent.
He appeared in court yesterday, and was remanded in custody until his next hearing on November 12.
