A teenager whose mother drove him to an alleged drug deal has been arrested at a car park in North Bondi today.
At about 10.30am police moved into the Ramsgate Street car park, arresting the teenager during an alleged deal for 1000 ecstasy pills.
The 19-year-old had been driven to the car park by his mother - who was not arrested.
Police say there is no evidence she is involved in any criminal enterprise or was aware of her son’s illicit activities.
Officers also stopped and questioned three men in a nearby car but at this stage they have been released without charge.
The teenager was taken to Bondi Police Station and is expected to face Waverley Local Court today.
Following his arrest, a 26-year-old man, alleged to be a source for the drugs, was taken into custody at a house in Westmoreland Street, Glebe.
He has been taken to Newtown Police Station and will later face Newtown Local Court charged with supply commercial quantity of a prohibited drug and supply indictable quantity of a prohibited drug.
Commander of Surry Hills Region Enforcement Squad, Detective Inspector Gavin Wood, said the investigation was continuing with further arrests likely.
“We have evidence others were involved in this drug network and there will be further arrests in the near future,” Det Insp Wood said.
“We are constantly targeting those people engaged in dealing illicit drugs and taking them off the streets.
“Every drug arrest we make further disrupts the supply network and I can assure the community that we will only continue to step up our activities.”
