Grand Final fever is spreading across Sydney with Melbourne and Manly fans counting down ‘til kick off.

Sydneysiders will be able to enjoy extra hours in the pub for grand final night tonight with venues allowed to stay open until midnight, instead of the usual closing time of ten o'clock.

The blockbuster decider is expected to wrap up before eight o'clock and NSW Sports Minister Kevin Greene is urging football fans to have fun responsibly.

“Well obviously we want people to go out and have a good time but I can’t stress enough that they need to avoid going overboard,” Mr Greene said.

“The liquor laws are designed to protect the public and increase safety for everybody to ensure it stays a good night.”

Typicall hypocrasy here. NRL has just spent a yr and who knows how much cash in the fight against Binge drinking and Alcohol abuse, only to see the pubs given extended hours on GF day. ( why do people associate this game with drinking issues?) Kevin Green, your a tool. You should be Fighting the extended hours as doing something RESPONSIBLE for the communities. This is what your lot have been campaigning isnt it?
