Incoming chief scientist to focus on climate change

Australia could get its own satellite - and the world's largest telescope.

Incoming chief scientist Penny Sackett will consider both options - but says she'll be focusing on what impact Professor Ross Garnaut’s proposed cuts in greenhouse gas emissions would have on climate change.

I hope this one is actually a scientist, not an economist. I can wholly inderstand the benefits of a BIG TELESCOPE, for our environment.....NOT.! At least with our OWN satelite, we can be self sufficient in providing street directories for those in the BIG Cities....LOL..Pity though that the costs involved i n Building these isnt re-directed to the HEALTH issues...I wonder if she can consider THAT option for the Countries finances?
