Australian Idol contestant Levi Kereama has died in a fall from a hotel balcony just hours after performing at a Brisbane festival at the weekend.
The Courier-Mail newspaper says Brisbane police received calls to an inner-city hotel at 10.30pm on Saturday and arrived to find Kereama, 23, dead after falling from the balcony of his upper-floor room.
Kereama is believed to have been suffering from depression.
Today tributes are flowing in on Facebook for the talented performer.
Tony Tjin posted a message on behalf of Kereama's family.
"I would like to say thank you for your prayers and kind messages, it's great to know that he touched so many people's lives," he wrote.
Kereama had been staying at the hotel after his performance that day at the Parklife Festival at Brisbane's Botanic Gardens.
He took part in the first season of Australian Idol in 2003, earning himself a wildcard entry to the final 12 alongside Guy Sebastian and Shannon Noll.
Despite being eliminated in week four, his singing career took off with family band Lethbridge, in which he performed alongside brothers Jules, Ezra and Lane Kereama.
The Parklife Festival was held in Brisbane on Saturday, and moved on to Sydney's Moore Park for another full day of performances yesterday.
