A man has been crushed to death between two trucks in Melbourne's north.
The man, aged between 50 and 60, was operating a crane from the side of a tray truck to unload rolled steel, when the truck overbalanced and crushed him between another truck.
Victoria Police said the incident happened about 7.45am (AEDT) in McCutcheon Street, Northcote.
Metropolitan Ambulance Service (MAS) paramedic Craig Hazelwood said the man suffered extensive chest and neck injuries.
He said the man's workmates gave him CPR until ambulance crews arrived.
Paramedics worked on the man for about 45 minutes, but they were unable to save him and the man died at the scene.
WorkSafe spokesman Michael Birt said two inspectors and an investigator were at the scene.
He said the death came just days after WorkSafe launched a graphic campaign to help curb the number of workplace injuries.
