Dalai Lama hospitalised with abdominal pains: Doctor

10/10/2008 8:23:00 AM.  | AAP
A senior doctor at an Indian hospital says the Dalai Lama has been hospitalised due to abdominal pain and could undergo surgery later today, but the Tibetan spiritual leader's spokesman insists he's only undergoing routine tests.

The Dalai Lama was admitted to a state-run New Delhi hospital on Thursday, following media reports that abdominal pains, for which he had spent four days in a Mumbai hospital in August had recurred.

A senior doctor at New Delhi's Sir Ganga Ram Hospital says the former Nobel peace Prize winner has been hospitalised, and the chances are he'll be operated upon later today.
