Done Deal: Rhyce Shaw headed to Sydney

10/10/2008 1:42:00 PM.  | AAP
Collingwood's Rhyce Shaw is headed to Sydney as clubs close in on the 2pm (AEDT) deadline to mark the end of AFL trade week.

Shaw was sent to the Swans along with Collingwood's fourth-round national draft pick (No.61), in exchange for Sydney's third-round pick (No.46).

The Magpies were also involved in one of the other two trades completed today, as they acquired small forward Anthony Corrie from the Brisbane Lions, in exchange for a sixth-round pick (No.93).

In today's other completed trade, the Western Bulldogs exchanged midfielder Farren Ray and pick No.48 with St Kilda in return for the Saints' pick 31.

The only completed trade before today was the movement of Port Adelaide fringe player Adam Thomson to Richmond, for the Tigers' third-round pick, No.42.

Shaw has strong family links to Collingwood, as his brother and uncle were Magpies greats while younger brother Heath is one of the side's stars.

But after 94 games in nine seasons, the winger, who turns 27 next week, requested a trade to rejuvenate his career.

Shaw was also suspended by Collingwood for two games late this season after he was out on a drinking bender, with Heath and teammate Alan Didak, which led to that pair being suspended for the rest of the season.

Corrie, 24, returned strongly for the Lions to play 20 games after being sidelined by a knee reconstruction in 2007.

The small forward played 53 games for the Lions in five completed seasons, for 48 goals.

Ray, 23, was initially recruited with pick No.4 in the 2003 national draft and played 75 games in five completed seasons.

But he played only 13 games in 2008 and requested to be moved on to another Melbourne-based club.
