Josh Pyke makes waves on giant guitar boat

10/10/2008 1:40:00 PM.  | AAP
Sydney singer Josh Pyke is hoping to make waves with his latest release.

The ARIA Award-winning songwriter set sail on Sydney Harbour on Thursday on a giant guitar boat, shooting a video clip for his new single Make You Happy.

Pyke ran circles around Rozelle Bay in his unique seacraft, which was created to the exact specifications of his Maton acoustic guitar, but was careful not to rock the boat too much.

Make You Happy is the second single off Pyke's sophomore album, Chimney's Afire, which was released last week.

He said the album was inspired by the sea and maritime adventures.

"Ever since I was a kid reading adventure books, especially Huckleberry Finn, I've always had a desire to jump on a raft and disappear down a river," Pyke said.

His first album, Memories & Dust, won three ARIA Awards last year.
