Rumer Willis was a young dork

Rumer Willis was “a big dork” when she was younger.

The 20-year-old actress – who is the daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis – admits her role as a geeky student in new film ‘The House Bunny’ was easy to play as she had plenty of personal experience to draw on.

She said: “I was a big dork. When I was growing up I had braces and glasses, and I had this big curly Afro. I definitely understand not entirely fitting in.

“I think everyone has their own version of feeling out of place and I think one of the great things we have the ability to do is to know it’s all right.

“It’s OK to have that awkward phase.”

Rumer also revealed she didn’t always want to be an actress – she once considered training to be a doctor because she was interested in learning about psychology.

Although she eventually decided to follow her parents into the acting industry, they were adamant she had to complete her education before beginning a Hollywood career.

She added to the Ticket supplement: “For a while I thought about studying medicine at school because I’ve always been interested in how people’s minds work. But I’m able to explore some of that as an actor and ultimately I think it seems more interesting.

“My parents always knew I wanted to act, so it didn’t really come as a big surprise. The only thing they told me was that I had to wait until I was 18 so I could get my education first.”
