Toddlers die in remote Aboriginal community fire

12/10/2008 4:17:00 PM.  | AAP
Police say two toddlers have died in a fire, after being trapped inside an abandoned caravan in a West Australian Aboriginal community.

They say the two-year-old girl and three-year-old boy were playing in the caravan this morning at the small Aboriginal community located about 30 kilometres from Tom Price, before it caught on fire.

The toddlers weren't siblings, but were related.

The van had been abandoned in a yard in the community and children had been encouraged to stay away from it.

Police arson squad and detectives are travelling to the remote community to investigate the deaths.
