Anna Coren popular with workmates, not viewers

It was more beers than tears at former Today Tonight host Anna Coren’s farewell bash – and rumours her departure was sour were quashed when a large contingent of producers, reporters and executives rocked up to say their goodbyes.

Locked away in Sydney’s uber-exclusive Ivy nightclub, Coren was not only copping praise from her TT mates, she also won the hearts of a few loose stragglers who accidentally crashed the roped off event.

Close to being kicked out for disturbing the party, Coren interjected and saved the day – and shouted her new friends to a few drinks from the tab.

But while Coren was popular at her departing party, surveys are suggesting viewers weren’t too pleased with her performance.

A multiple choice test conducted by TV Tonight found that 45 percent of viewers thought Coren will be remembered for “proving that you only need to read an autocue to host TT”.

Sixteen percent were a fan of Coren’s “see-through tops”, and fourteen percent thought she “read every story with the same editorial weight”.
