Unwanted Sydney forward Nick Davis has been forced to nominate for the pre-season draft as he comes to terms with the fact his AFL career could be over.
Davis, a 97-game Swans veteran, has been told by the club he is no longer wanted, but his manager Lance Thompson insists Davis still has plenty to offer.
"He is devastated. It was a big disappointment to hear the club you love doesn't want you anymore but right now he's more concerned about where to go from here," Thompson told News Limited.
"Nick still has so much to offer AFL. He just needs a club to give him a chance.
"In the long run it's the Swans' loss. Nick is an asset in big games and tight games. He's been at the Swans so long. It's a two-way street. He has done a lot for the club. No one will forget the 2005 semi-final and he was one of Sydney's shining lights in the 2006 Grand Final, kicking three goals.
"But I suppose at the moment none of that counts for anything now."
