The Wests Tigers are reportedly set to turn their backs on their Western Sydney heartland and shift half their home games from ANZ Stadium to the Sydney Football Stadium.
News Limited reports suggest the Tigers have struck a deal with the SCG Trust which will see them play six home games at the SFS in 2009, with three each at
Campbelltown Stadium and Leichhardt Oval.
While the move has been questioned by the only other Sydney club to use the SFS as a home ground; the Roosters - incoming Tigers boss Scott Longmuir says the numbers add up.
"Our club has a geographically broad brand name," he told News Limited.
"We have done assessments on this. The distance and travel time from Campbelltown isn't that far or that long. I think the fans will (travel), for sure.
"All successful teams from around the world have the strongest markets and best stadiums."
Meanwhile NRL boss David Gallop has praised the decision.
"The balance between commercial return and looking after fans is a delicate one," Gallop told News Limited.
"Hopefully this move will ensure Wests Tigers continue to strike the balance they are looking for."
Sydney Roosters official Richard Fisk wasn't as excited by the prospect of sharing a home ground.
"It all seems a bit strange," said Fisk.
"I thought they were the Wests Tigers, not the East Tigers."
