Sarah Palin, the best known hockey mom in the world, has been met with an unexpectedly cold reception at a Philadelphia ice hockey game.
The Republican vice presidential nominee was at the Philadelphia flyers match to drop the puck, but was received with a roar of boos from the crowd.
A calm Palin managed to keep smiling through the ordeal, with seven-year-old daughter Piper by her side.
Earlier Palin said bringing her daughter was a strategic move.
"I've been warned that Flyers fans, they get so enthused, that they boo everybody at the drop of the puck," she said.
"But what I thought I'd do is I'd put Piper in a Flyers jersey, bring her out with me. How dare they boo Piper!"
