16/10/2008 12:19:00 PM.  | AAP
Veteran North Melbourne forward Brent Harvey will captain Australia in the upcoming International Rules series against Ireland.

Harvey, 30, will have the rare distinction of captaining his country before being the permanent leader of his AFL club.

Hawthorn premiership defender Campbell Brown and West Coast midfielder Adam Selwood will be the vice-captains.

Australia will play Ireland at Subiaco on October 24 and at the MCG on October 31.
