Racing NSW has cleared jockey Chris Munce for a return to riding in Australia.

Munce will retain his Racing NSW licence despite being hit with a 30-month disqualification by the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) over the tips-for-bets scandal, Racing NSW has confirmed.

The jockey was released from Sydney's Silverwater Prison in late October after serving 20 months of a 30-month sentence handed down by a Hong Kong court.

"The whole period has been very stressful not only on me but my whole family," Munce told 2GB's Ray Hadley after revealing the favourable outcome of Wednesday morning's meeting of the Racing NSW licensing committee.

"But thankfully, with the fairness and natural justice with the Australian authorities, we've got a good result anyway."

At last! An Australian statutory authority with heart and commonsense. All kudos to Peter V'landys and Racing NSW for their correct decision in allowing Chris Munce and family to get on with their lives. Racing NSW is obviously under good management.

NSW is far from being under good mgt.Vlandy's is a dill and the NSW harness ind couldn't believe their luck when he left.Menangle would never of happened if he was still there.Racefields have dropped alarmingly under Vlandy's reign. The constant head buried in the sand attitude to corporate bookies/exchanges shows how out of touch this gibberer is .As to Munce you need to be aware that he is only licenced to ride in NSW and other states may take a diff view and align with convention and ban him.

Munce took the oppt to accept bribes for tips. The point that needs to be understood is Munce rode in the vast majority of those races and most of his tips did not relate to his horse. The HKJC chose not investigate the manner he rode those races. The inference is obvious. To avoid a long drawn out indiv enquiry for each race req Munce's attend they took the option to ban him for 9 mths & avoid the cost. This grubby little liar should consider himself very lucky and hopefully other states ban him.

Horseracings gone to the dogs. Munce is a criminal! The industry is a joke! Punters are getting ripped off on a corrupt industry

The whole organisation is rigged, so why worry about Munce riding or not? As soon as one sport is involved for gamble, the Human element corrupts the sport. Look at the Melb cup. 2nd place. Illeagle treatment is ok'd. This is why they'll never see a brass razoo from me. Better for glue/table meat than betting on. the jockeys know who'll win as they know how they'll box in/ hold out. RIP OFF.

After having spent some time inside I am surprised that Chris would be able to sit down in a saddle let alone squat. Who weighed 100 Kilo's and rode a Melbourne Cup winner? Chris Munces cell mate!

The horse racing industry has to be seen to be as clean as is humanly possible. When a Robbie Waterhouse or a Chris Munce knowingly step over the line, they deserve to no longer be part of the industry. Anything else brings the industry into disrepute, and makes it harder to market as being completely above board. Horse racing lost a lot when it gave Waterhouse back his bookmaking licence. To have now reinstated Munce's riding licence raises even more questions about the honesty of the industry
