Senator Conroy busted snoozing in Parliament

3/12/2008 11:27:00 AM.  | AAP
Communications Minister Stephen Conroy has been caught napping as the Senate debated his legislation.

Senator Conroy was in the chamber listening to debate on a bill relating to the planned digital TV switchover.

He appeared to rest his eyes through much of a speech by Liberal backbencher Alan Eggleston before being roused by a second speaker.

"Sorry to disturb your slumber," Liberal Ian Macdonald said.

Senator Conroy offered no response.

Why would this come as a surprise, Senator Conroy snoozing during a Liberal contribution to the debate on the planned digital TV switchover. Senator Conroy has long believed that there are only three people worth listening to in relation to his Communications portfolio. From his perspective "me, myself and I". He would see having to even be in the Senate Chamber to listen to a Liberal submission as being beneath him.

Any thing that i hear about this arogant man does not surprise me,he is typical of the low grade politicians on the Govenment side of the Senate. And from what i can see ,he holds the record for answering question without giving an answer to questions by repeating himself so many times within the one answer (treating everybody as as bigger fool than he) that his time has expired and he has told us nothing. This man is an insult to the Parliment and the people of Australia. How long will he last?

Sack him. This rubbish about being elected by the people protecting them is a Joke. if he cant do the job, flick him.As for the Digital TV, we were told to go digital, we got digital TV. then we get told its pushed back. Why? when the TV here adverts," available in Dig. wide screen" it definately doesnt apply here. Sucks. All that money wasted! It's a wonder parliament house is still on the ground with all the methane rising from the S**T they speak!
