The father of the Sydney teenager, who died days after she was hit in the head by a golf ball, has spoken of his frustration at news a law in her name may be put on hold.

A coronial inquest found Vanessa Anderson’s death was due to systemic failures at Royal North Shore hospital.

Vanessa's Law would require a paediatrician to oversee any child admitted to an adult ward.

Warren Anderson has told 2GB’s Jason Morrison we need the legislation now more than ever.

“There’s going to be a lot of children that are admitted to an adult wards… it’s going to happen,” he said.

“[But] they need paediatrics; they need a specialist to look after them.”

Once again the governmnt is doing a back flip, after the loss of his child needlessly he went out and fought for conditions that should have been in when his daughter was admitted, how many more people will die needlessly because they do not know what they are doing and do not care. Jan

Now now, people need to think on this abit. There is NO WAY the NSW guv can afford to have Pead's at work. It just takes up too much of the Budget that has been Earmarked for their PAYRISES.! Priorities people, Get them right.

I have a lot of empathy with Warren Anderson having lost my mother thru the public hospital system.Mr Anderson has conducted himself in a very genuine manner and seems a good person. The problem I have with Vanessa 's Law is that it is "cheap politics" typical of Jillian Skinner taking advantage of people's grief. If such a law was ever to be passed how many other similar laws for this and that would be drafted. How would it be enforced.Would you fly a ped from interstate to oversea a broken cont

broken leg if a ped could not be found locally.Would you second a ped locally just to watch one patient and deny 20/30 of their other patients care. This proposed law is ridiculous and shows the lengths the Libs will go to.Where have they been while Howard and his cohorts have raping pub hosp funding and cutting training places for clinicians at unis.Where have these gronks in oppn been on the hiway robbery of NSW gst over the last 7/8 yrs.Nowhere, just in the shadows prospering on others misery.

My heart feels for the Andersons. I remember the look on mr Anderson's face as he left the garling Inquiry in April this year. My husband was also a victim of RNSH bungling, mistakes and neglect and the lack of justice for his wrongful death still haunts our small family. We have been fighting ever since his shocking death 17months ago. How perverse of the NSW Gov to call an inquiry, but hold up the law reccomended by that inquiry. Maybe they hope we will all forget. The Andersons will never.
