There have been scenes of wild celebration on board a Thai Airways flight - the first international plane to leave Bangkok after eight days of protests.
Passengers say as the Thai Airways flight, bound for Sydney, took off the runway there were cheers and applause – finally, after eight long days, those stranded in Bangkok were on their way home.
Anti-government demonstrators have ended their protest at the airport and the flight that has just arrived in Sydney was the first international one to leave.
Passenger say all on board were cheering.
“It was the only plane on the whole airport and everybody got off the bus and said, ‘Hooray!’ one passenger, John, told LIVENEWS.com.au.
Those arriving here hold no grudge against Thailand for the protests.
Most are sympathetic towards the demonstrators and full of praise for the help provided to them by the Thai people.
